About Martin<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I established my private counselling and psychotherapy practice in 2013 and founded More Soul Therapy in 2026 as an expression of my growing belief that healing involves more than overcoming difficulties. It also involves discovering meaning, awakening potential and finding ways to contribute positively to the world around us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My own journey has taken me through many countries, cultures and traditions. Living in Sri Lanka, Brazil, New Zealand and India exposed me to different perspectives on wellbeing, spirituality and personal growth. During this time, a series of profound life experiences deepened my interest in meditation, self-development and the relationship between psychological healing and spiritual awakening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like many people, some of my greatest learning emerged through periods of challenge, uncertainty and transition. These experiences helped me appreciate both the resilience of the human spirit and the courage it takes to seek support, confront difficulties and embrace change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following a long career in education, I returned to the UK and gradually transitioned into counselling, psychotherapy and life coaching. Since then I have worked with individuals facing a wide range of emotional, relational and life challenges, helping them to understand themselves more deeply, heal past wounds and move towards a more fulfilling and meaningful life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Helping people has been a significant part of much of my career in education, supporting and appraising staff in primary and further education in the UK, India, Sri Lanka, Brazil and New Zealand. I have supported teaching staff in the prison, hospitality, early childhood education and youth work sectors and teachers in primary school through professional development courses and workshops based on their own goals and aspirations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since then I have trained in hypnotherapy, counselling and psychotherapy, worked in rape and sexual abuse and been in private practice since 2013. I provide workshops in Trauma and PTSD, Understanding Personality Disorders and Shame and Narcissism. I also provide spiritual retreat days at the Romsey Wisdom Centre in Hampshire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have learned and taught yoga, meditation, therapeutic body massage and Reiki. I have learned Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Ashtanga Yoga, Hatha Yoga and now practice Kriya Yoga, the method of Self Realisation as taught by Paramahansa Yogananda, author of Autobiography of a Yogi<\/em>. I pursued these paths when I lived in Brazil, India and New Zealand. I returned to the UK in 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n

I enjoy walking, cycling, painting, playing the Indian harmonium and kartels, singing bhajans and spending as much time as possible in communion with Great Spirit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These principles are a foundation of our ethical practice and decision making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fundamental principles of this code are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Working towards the good of clients and doing no harm (Beneficence and Non-maleficence)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Practitioners hold the welfare of clients central to their work and so commit to avoiding harm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Being trustworthy and responsible (Fidelity)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Practitioners endeavour to establish trust with their clients and the community in which they work. Therefore, practitioners not only honour the trust placed in them by their clients and the community but also act in a respectful, professional and ethical manner when representing their profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Respect for the dignity and rights of the client (Autonomy)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clients have the right to self-determination and to be shown dignity and respect for making their own lawful decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Justice<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Practitioners are aware of their own judgements based on their own experiences, and need to take precautions (supervision) to provide a service that is not restricted by their own prejudice and limitations of experience. This also means showing respect for diversity of persons, without prejudice to colour, race, belief, gender, sexuality, social context, and mental and physical abilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Integrity and self-responsibility<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Practitioners work to be as honest, truthful and accurate as possible. They are also responsible for looking after their own needs and health. So, a practitioner will only commit to a practice that they can offer being aware of own expertise, training, health and wellbeing and let the client know if anything changes.<\/p>\n\n\n
